For the first time, cannabis will be properly researched in the UK at a facility opening this summer.
Medipen, the company who tested a medical vaporiser in 2016 with the NHS will open an 1800ft square research facility this year.
The facility which is in an undisclosed location will research the use of THC and cancer which could go on to help patients.
Taken from the Medipen blog they have stated,
“As a firm believer in enhancing research into medicinal cannabis, we are committed to reinvesting into further developing our R&D network, and are pleased to announce the public launch of the MediPen® Cannabis Research Facility.
This marks the beginning of a strenuous course of clinical trials and research into the medicinal applications of several cannabis constituents, with the goal of developing a portfolio of licensed cannabinoid based medicines in the coming years.”
Let’s hope that this is a sign of good things to come for those lives that can be greatly improved with medical cannabis.
